STAG Strathaven Market Town Races

STAG’s 1st Urban Map is scheduled for use on Sunday 18th April 2010. The map is being produced by Oleg Cheplin & Gary Tompsett is the planner of this project.

STAG Members should email Terry to enter this event & not enter themselves.

Our event is based in John Hastie Park.

Special Entry Fees for this event for South Lanarkshire Residents are Seniors (over 21yrs) £4 & Juniors £2. All entries on Course 1 - contained within John Hastie Park -£1.50.

Strathaven, a beautiful market town set in South Lanarkshire is the venue for STAG’s 1st venture into Urban Orienteering & in fact could this be the first Scottish Event held in a real market town?

Masterminded by local resident & STAG’s OMMstar, Gary Tompsett we hope you will support our project.

Courses on offer- Please note that in Orienteering, Course Lengths are measured along the direct line but this is not always the best route between controls.

Course 1 will be self contained within Strathaven Park & be between 1k > 1.5k in length & suitable for youngsters & novices.

Course 2 will be a Short Urban Cross-Country Course measured as 3k. The Cross-Country bit means that controls must be visited in the prescribed order shown on your map.

Course 3 will be a Long Urban Cross-Country Course approximately 6k on the direct line so probably nearer an 8k distance.

Competitors on Courses 2 & 3 may request either Early (11am>11.15am); Middle(11.16am > 11.44am); Late(11.45am > 11.59am).

Should the level of entry demand either a 90 minute or 2 hour start period the above ranges shall be extended as required.
